These foods trigger my migraines, and if I have more than one of these in the same 24 hour period (like I have a hot dog at lunch and then a lemonade for dinner) FORGET IT. Its an ER visit to kill the pain. Butt here is my list: onions, hot dogs, soy (soy sauce, peanut butter -- the regular has soy in it!!), aged cheeses, aged meats (salamis), if I drink alcohol I try to stick to lite beers and clear liquors, cannot even SMELL red wine or forget it, anything citrus - oranges, orange juice, lemons, lemonade, limes...

Following a tyramine free diet really has helped my migraines! It is a pretty boring way to eat but it is certainly worth the reward of not getting a migraine all of the time.

Huge help in giving up foods..I agree about msg..you can do a google search for it's other names..ex natural flavorings, whey protein, soy isolate, malt falvorings.etc. Basically processed foods. In gen. i avoid cheese alcohol, caffeiene, beans, avacado, bananas, yogurt, nuts, figs(dried fruit),anything pickled or preserved, deli meats..and so forth

I avoid my triggers which are the common alcohol and chocolate, but then the other is less common--mushrooms. I cannot have ANY quantity of these three without suffering.

Keeping away from my trigger foods has definitely reduced the frequency of bad attacks. I avoid, alchohol, wine, cheese, sea food, spinach, dry fruits, cured meats, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, nuts, citrus fruits, papayas , pineapples, raw onions , raw tomatoes and msg which is a major trigger for me. Hope this list helps others keep their migraines at bay.

I disagree about MSG being easily avoided, many foods list it as "natural flavoring" instead of actually listing MSG. Also, you can't read ingredient labels when dining away from home, so gatherings can be VERY difficult. I am still compiling a mental list of foods that need to be avoided after 7 or so years of finding out about the MSG link.

MSG Monosodium Glutamate is a trigger for migraines. Determining any triggers in your diet can be tricky, especially if you have more than one trigger. MSG is easily avoided if you take the time to read labels on foods you eat. Avoiding it makes my migraines go away completely and I wonder how many people are suffering needlessly because of this horrible food additive.

I've never been able to find an exact trigger. Grapes never bother me, and then one day I got a quick 15min striking headache after eating a few. It's too hard to tell what is affecting what. Sometimes I think it could be a combination.

The most comprehensive list of foods, that may trigger migraines, I found on the internet.
